In 1969 the UK Bass company (part of a brewery) put all it's hotels together renaming them Crest. In 1972 they bought the Esso Motor chain giving them hotels in the rest of Europa as well. After that more hotels were acquired, mostly in Germany. In 1990 the Crest group was bought by Trusthouse Forte. Renaming the hotels to Forte Crest. In 1996 the Forte group was taken over,leading again to name changes
